Volleyball Preview: Pacifica Christian Tritons vs. Western Christian Fighting Lancers

After both having extra time off, the Pacifica Christian/Orange County Tritons and the Western Christian Fighting Lancers will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pacifica Christian/Orange County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, everything went Pacifica Christian/Orange County's way against Tarbut V' Torah as Pacifica Christian/Orange County made off with a 3-0 victory.

Pacifica Christian/Orange County not only won but also showed off some consistency: keeping Tarbut V' Torah between 16 and 19 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-19.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pacifica Christian/Orange County to victory, but perhaps none more so than  Chara Wondercheck, who had 15 kills, eight digs, and two blocks. The dominant performance gave Wondercheck a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Hartman, who had eight kills, five aces, and two blocks.

She wasn't the only good server: Pacifica Christian/Orange County was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 0 aces per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 12.2.

Meanwhile, Western Christians suffered their biggest defeat since August 27th last Friday. They came up short against Capistrano Valley Christian, falling 3-0. The Fighting Lancers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as their game last Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

While Western Christian was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-15, 26-24.

Pacifica Christian/Orange County has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Western Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.

Everything went Pacifica Christian/Orange County's way against Western Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2023 as Pacifica Christian/Orange County made off with a 3-0 win.
