Boys Basketball Win San Joaquin League for the Third Year in a Row
For the third year in a row, Pacifica Christian Boys Basketball are the San Joaquin League Champions! The Tritons clinched their fourth league title on Monday, February 3rd after a competitive battle in Pasadena against San Gabriel Academy, winning 61-58. In a four-team league consisting of Fairmont Prep, San Gabriel Academy, and Western Christian, the Orange and Navy finished 5-1 and 19-7 on the season. Both the Tritons and Fairmont Prep finished 5-1, making them co-league champions. The Orange and Navy ended the regular season on a five-game winning streak.
On January 18th, the Tritons lost a close battle against the Huskies in the Triton Event Center, making the road ahead for another league banner a little tougher, but that did not stop the team from becoming the first program in school history to win three consecutive league titles. Step one was to beat Fairmont Prep on the road and they did just that as they defeated the Huskies in dominant fashion, beating them 67-53 on January 28th in a must-win game. In a rescheduled game that was supposed to take place at the beginning of the month, the Orange and Navy traveled to San Gabriel Academy on Monday, beating the Eagles 61-58 in a hard-fought battle, closing the chapter on the regular season and clinching their fourth San Joaquin League Title.
Senior Logan Stewart led the team Monday night with a double-double, putting up 20 points and 10 rebounds. EJ Spillman, who in the game prior on January 31st became the new all-time point leader for Pacifica Christian Basketball produced 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. Junior Michael Noel had 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals while Hudson Reynolds tallied nine points.
"It's an honor to win this tough league three years in a row," said Head Coach Jeff Berokoff "It is a testament to the hard work of our players as well as our coaching staff who have put in the work and dedication to make such a special run and I am so proud to be part of this program."
The Orange and Navy have won the San Joaquin League Title in the 2019-2020, 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and now the 2024-2025 seasons. CIF Brackets will be released on Saturday, February 8th at noon and can be found here. The Tritons are anticipated to fall in Division 2.
